What sort of man drinks scotch?

i was out with some friends from work and we invited along the new guy. he's about 20 or something and he seems alright. he doesn't say much but he puts you at ease and i enjoyed his company so after we went to the restuarant we all decided to go onto a pub and he said he'd join us so fair dos to the guy. when we got into the pub one of my friends asked everyone what they were drinking and this guy said the he could murder a scotch and that after he'd took a sip he said excuse me and went outside for a cigar. everybody was laughing. why were they laughing? he's a braver man that me because that stuff he was drinking looked lethal.
