Caught up on some bills but now close to broke.?

its frustrating, its me and my girl living together yet we fall behind on bills. i got a very nice check today and just about all of it went to bills. car insurance, i had to make 2 car payments. cause i was late with junes. i had to pay a ticket to get my license reinstated. that was $140. i could go on and on. should i be happy that my check was enough to pay these bills? i wish i could. but im not cause now im close to broke. the remaining money is either savings or gas. is there really a silver lining to all this. i should be all caught up by august
