Any advice for my guinea pigs?

I am getting two girl guinea pigs, and right now I am having a dispute over what cage to get. They are going to have a long cage for a bit, but eventually I want to upgrade. I can't make a C&C cage, but is there anyway I could use a small kiddie pool or put two pet store cages together? Thanks for answering :D Any advice is appreciated!
